Before choosing a channel or a tool, a solid marketing strategy always starts from the same foundations.

How to structure a marketing strategy in 2025

Many brands start with tactics — an Instagram account, an ad campaign, a website — before asking the only question that really matters: who are we talking to, and why would they choose us? A marketing strategy that lasts always starts from an honest audit of the current situation, not from a list of trendy tools.

The first step is to clarify the business objective behind the marketing effort: awareness, acquisition, retention? Each one calls for different channels, messages and success metrics. Mixing them up is the most common reason a strategy seems to "not work" when it is simply reaching a different goal than the one expected.

Next comes positioning: what makes the offer different, said simply, and defensible against competition. Good positioning fits in a single sentence a client could repeat from memory — if it takes a whole paragraph to explain, it is probably still too vague.

Finally, channel choice should follow the audience, not the other way around. Being everywhere dilutes resources and attention; being in the right place, with a consistent and measured message over time, produces far more durable results.
